Blog Update #5: Biggest ICT Challenge of the Future

What will be the biggest ICT challenge faced by Canadian enterprises over the next 10 years?

I believe that the biggest ICT challenge in the future will be that the Canadian Enterprises will be caught with having loads and loads of data that has not yet been processed, and the process of making that data into useful information for businesses and company's. We have so many ways to gather important information, but it has not yet discovered how to turn it into profit and Future development ideas. 

That will be a goldmine when  people actually figure a way out to deal with all the data we have that is still growing. Not only is there all the unprocessed data of today, but there will be the addition of all the unprocessed data of the future as well. Products will be able to developed to meet consumers needs with the help of this data.

Companies will need to depend on this new data in order to stay competitive and up to date with consumers. That is why this will be the biggest ICT challenge faced by Canadian enterprises in the next 10 years. 

Blog Update #4: Business Analyst vs. Software Engineer

Between a Business Analyst and a Software Engineer, I would rather be a Software Engineer, as the job seems more challenging and interesting. A Software Engineer would be able to create and do different jobs all of the time, so the job would be constantly changing and challenging, it would also be quite a creative job. I am quite a creative person and I get bored really easily, so I feel as though this job would keep me busy.

I feel as though I would find being a Business Analyst to be very boring. Just constantly looking over other people's stuff would be very boring. I feel like the job would not challenge me, and that I would want to move onto something new and different within a few years of starting the job.

I feel like being a Software Engineer could be a long and exciting career path, and that is why I think it is better. It is a job that will be constantly changing as the world modernizes and changes, and so this job will always be relevant. This would be a hard job to get started in because there is so much that you have to know to do this job, but would be worth it in the end.

So in the end I would rather be a Software Engineer than a Business Analyst.

Blog Update #3: Network Intelligence

The network intelligence that scares me the most is communication programs like Skype, that use the webcam and has the ability to send documents and information back and forth. I never have been comfortable with using a webcam, you could be having a private business meeting using Skype and think that it is secure, but what is stoping some random person from hacking into your camera and conversation secretly and listening/watching in. You could be sending important documents to a colleague, but it get intercepted in the middle without you even knowing. I feel like the program is not secure, and could be a huge privacy issue, people think that they are safe when they really are not.

I would not want the network to know about any of my personal relationships with anybody. The network doesn't need to know if I had a fight with my parents, or made a new friend. The network especially doesn't need to know about my financials, that is personal data that I would not want the network to know about.

This relates to me as I use Skype with my parents when they are in Africa. It is the cheapest way of communication, yet I always feel oddly as though I'm being watched. I have never liked these kind of programs. I also use Skype when communicating for school group projects, as we can send documents back and forth and communicate pretty easily, but there is always the chance that our paper could be swiped and/or copied. There is always a risk when using this kind of technology. This way I prefer email, as I feel it is a more secure network, even though it may not be.

Should petGRO source new MAC's or PC's?

I believe that petGRO should source new PC desktop computers for the firm. A PC is easier to use and has useful programs, like excel, that the company could put to good use. Not all programs translate well from PC's to MAC's, and they are often not very compatible even if the program exists for both computer types. Especially since petGRO has gone with the BYOD, a desktop computer that is highly compatible with all models of phones would be smart, and the PC is the best for that. The MAC can be quite difficult to navigate and older employees could get frustrated, and that would not be good for the firm. A PC is best for workplace activities, whereas a MAC is geared towards leisure work and activities. So for the petGRO, they need a computer geared towards workplace actives, so the PC is perfect for that. In the end, petGRO should choose to adopt PC desktop computers for their firm.

    -Internet Explorer Browser

      >approximately 30% other search engines all throughout 2012, and remains high above all       other search engines.
      >Internet Explorer is steadily growing, it went from 52.84% at the beginning of 2012 to 54.77% at the end of 2012.
      >It is a very user friendly browser, it works with all PC computers, so customers will have less trouble shopping online with this browser.
      >Most people are familiar with Internet Explorer, therefore using it in a workplace is a much better idea then say Safari, where many users may not have ever used/seen the browser before.
    -Windows Operating System
     >It is the most universal software, and it is the most useful for a company, and it can be used for many professional business work, and is compatible with PC and MAC computers.
     >Leads with 90% of the trend all through 2012

Sales, Marketing and ISTD FAs should focus for mobile/tablet devices on:
     -Safari Browser
         >The most popular browser as of today used by smart phones
         >All apple smartphones use safari internet as the browser, and that has made it the
         >It maintains approximately 61% of the smartphone/tablet users browser users.
         > Around 40% higher than the android browser.
        > Seeing as smartphones seem to be the way of the future and Safari is taking the lead by a long haul, the company would be best to go with safari for their smartphone/android browser, as it is the most common and a very user friendly technology.
    -iOS Operating System
     >It is the leading trend, so most employees are already familiar with it
     >Leads with 60% of the trend all through 2012
